"maza bila nak masuk kerja?", kata kerani.
"Kan cuti paternity leave sebanyak 7 hari?" jawab maza.
"Eh lamanya?! Saya tak pernah tahu pasal 7 hari itu?"
"Semua orang tahu. Dalam Labor Law pun ada kata 7 hari"
"Betul ke ni?.."
"Kenapa?"
"Kena masuk cepat. Sebab ada banyak kerja kat pejabat. Ada urusan penting untuk selesaikan. Pasal visa pekerja Bangla tu. Tiket berlepas Isnin depan.
Rugilah saya. Siapa nak tengok keluarga saya? Lagipun company tak pernah bagi apa-apa pampasan pun. Apa-apa hal berlaku kepada keluarga saya, company bukannya nak tanggung!"
" ... itu saya tak tahu. Boss suruh datang juga."
"Macam ni. Cakap dengan boss pasal ni. Dan awak juga kena check tentang peraturan undang-udang itu, itu pun kalau awak nak tahu!"
Jeda...
Telefon berdering.
"Congratulation maza!"
"Thanks boss"
"You have to come on Thursday to settle the Banglas boy's visa. They have to leave back to home on Monday. So I need you to go to Putrajaya on Thursday morning at 10.00 am. I've made arrangement with my cousin in there. You just go and collect the letter and do the rest of the procedure. This boy was over stayed."
"But I still on leave boss. And my baby have jaundice, my wife not well and weak. In fact I still in hospital. I need to look after my family."
"Are sure that you are eligible to have 7 days paternity leave?"
"Yes, I do. Definitely I know about it long before. The doctor over here has also mentioned the same. To further assurance, I was called my friend whose working as M.O (medical officer) at back my home town. He also confirmed the same!"
"We need to send Baglas back home by next Monday."
"I need to check my timetable.... One minute boss. Darling, esok kita ada temujanji ke?.."
Tiba-tiba talian telefon terputus.
Kemudian maza kembali membuat panggil kepada boss.
"Okay boss. I will do the assignment. But I need to have a replacement leave by next week on Monday. If you agree than I will go."
"Alright. Thursday morning at 10.oo morning you should have in Putrajaya. See Mr. XXXX. I will pass his number to you. And any requirement just consult him or me.. bla bla bla.. "
Dalam hati maza berkata, "Huh! Jawabnya aku berkerja dengan tidak ikhlas. Ini bukan jiwa ku!"
Malamnya hati maza masih tidak tenang. Maza berterusan mencari fakta disebalik kejadian siang tadi.
Pergi masjid pun tidak kena. Duduk mengadap anak pun rasa tidak tenteram. Lalu maza mencari nasihat dengan kawan-kawan. Termasuklah nekcun dan juga Mr. Google.
Setelah berpuas hati, maza pun menulis SMS kepada boss.
"It's confirmed that paternity leave is 7 days including holiday and rest day.
I was accompanied with a friend, whose a Human Resource Manager in MNC company. We were read through again the Employment Acts 1955 (Revised 2001). We find that the provision 7 days paternity leave is only applicable to public sector and not to private sector.
So the advise given by doktor and M.O (Medical Officer).., that I was mentioned earlier this morning, are wrong, null & false.
Please accept my apology for all misinterpretation, confusion and misunderstanding.
Anyway, I wish to ask your kindness, generosity and favor, to let me have another one more day leave. I really need it for my son to attend the next appointment to see doctor. And also to settle the son registration procedure @ Pejabat Pendaftaran Negara. I wish to settle all family matters once for all by this Wednesday (13.01.2010)."
Besok tengahari boss baru menjawab mesej maza yang dihantar pada jam 1.00 pagi. Ringkas sahaja bunyinya, "OK."
